Associate Director
M. Sohail Halim holds a MBBS Degree (Equivalent to MD) from the Aga Khan University, Pakistan.
Dr. Halim's research has focused on design and initiation of early phase I/II clinical trials that focus on innovative drugs for various ocular conditions such as non-infectious uveitis, retinal diseases and scleritis. He has a keen interest in the field of ocular imaging and analysis of retinal photographs, such as optical coherence tomography, fundus photography and fluorescein angiography. He has helped design automatic algorithms for image analysis, such as fundus photography, optical coherence tomography (OCT), OCT-angiography, aqueous flare, and adaptive optics for conditions such as uveitis, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and ocular toxoplasmosis. Furthermore, he has been involved in designing and running multicenter clinical trials and designed and implemented software solutions to aid the research.
Dr. Halim’s seminal accomplishments and innovative, insightfully designed research projects make him uniquely qualified to investigate key areas in retinal diseases as well as uveitis and ocular inflammatory diseases. He is an extraordinary researcher whose scientific contributions have tirelessly promoted scientific innovations in vision research.
